What Happened at the Box Office W/E 12-20-2015-Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens review

If anyone thought for five seconds that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” would not make some serious money, where have you been for the last year?

According to “Variety,” (the Bible of the entertainment community), “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” missed beating “Jurassic World” for a world wide release. However, Disney, (who owns the “Star Wars” franchise), disagrees with the bean counters, at least their own bean counters.

“Jurassic World” brought it 524.9MM for their global opening. Disney calculated that their popular film would bring in 517MM world wide, however, they didn’t estimate the domestic take. Domestically, here at home, the film took in approximately 247MM. High finance in Hollywood is crazy making!!!

The top ten films of this past record are as followed:

  1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  2. Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip Trips (Really)?
  3. Sisters
  4. Mockingjay Part 2 held on to the top of the list in the number four place.
  5. Creed
  6. The Good Dinosaur
  7. Krampus
  8. In the Heart of the Sea
  9. Dilwale
  10. Bajirao Mastani

I don’t think it matters what is coming out next week except for Christmas. Coming out on the 25th.

  1. Joy
  2. Daddy’s Home
  3. Point Blank
  4. Concussion (An important film film that we will all be hearing about for a long time. It is the true story of the head injuries sustained while playing sports, specifically NFL Football.
  5. The Revenant
  6. The Hateful Eight

A few good films. I will have a review of Concussion coming up and I believe I have a review of a documentary that addresses the same subject.

I will also have a few reviews of films getting Oscar Buzz.

I am looking for a reviewer/entertainment writer on the East Coast. New York would be great. Please contact me through the ‘contact us’ link below.

About The Author

Always interested in a good indie film, my taste run towards Horror and documentaries. Rom-coms are my least favorite genre, but I will always take a look for the better good of the site. I've reviewed films for seven years and want to do it for about 20 more...we will see.
